It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Janis Claxton - recent recipient of the prestigious Herald Archangel Award - who died at age 53 from lung cancer on 7th September 2018.

Dance lovers and professionals heading to Tanzmesse in Düsseldorf are in for a treat! In addition to the site-specific performances scheduled on 31st August in the afternoon in the official programme, look out for these beautiful POP-UP Duets, set to original music by Pippa Murphy at a variety of Tanzmesse venues every day from 29th August to 1st September!

Edinburgh-based choreographer Janis Claxton wins the prestigious Herald ARCHANGEL AWARD for her outstanding work POP-UP Duets (fragments of love) which won critical acclaim since its premiere in 2016, and which has since toured nationally and internationally to Taiwan, Singapore, Sweden and the USA. POP-UP Duets is now back in Edinburgh as part of the Fringe Festival, from 22 to 26 August at the National Museum of Scotland at 15h30.

Lincoln Center‘s campus becomes the stage for this “richly inventive, wonderfully perceptive” set of duets (Herald UK), from acclaimed Scottish choreographer Janis Claxton. Over the course of nine encounters, pairs of dancers emerge from the crowds to offer ephemeral glimpses of love and affection, from overt flirtation to secret passions, all set to a gorgeous score by Pippa Murphy. A unanimous hit at the 2016 @edfringe , Pop-Up Duets will delight visitors during the second week of Lincoln Center Out of Doors. From 1-5 Aug 💞
