Friedemann Vogel awarded the Order of Merit of the State of Baden-Württemberg
Heartfelt congratulations to Friedemann Vogel, who has been awarded the Verdienstorden des Landes Baden-Württemberg (Order of Merit of the State of Baden-Württemberg) — one of the most exclusive state honours in Germany, conferred personally by the Minister-President and permanently capped at just 1,000 living recipients across all fields.
Already a Kammertänzer — the highest distinction for a dancer in Germany — Friedemann was recognised by the Minister-President as a role model and passionate ambassador for his art form on the world stage, for his commitment to charitable causes and to the service of science. Tanznetz calls him “the most significant German male dancer of the 21st century” and “one of the superstars of the international ballet world”, while the Stuttgarter Zeitung described this honour as going to “one of Germany's most recognised cultural figures”. As Dance for You Magazine eloquently puts it: "Some awards announce what is to come. This one confirms what we have long known — and felt.""Some awards announce what is to come. This one confirms what we have long known — and felt."
Among 27 recipients spanning science, politics, sport and business, Friedemann is the only representative of dance — an honour that places him among the most decorated figures in the history of German dance.
